Privacy Policy
The short version: the Carligraphy app does not collect any data about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no third-party code in the app. On the App Store, the app's privacy label is Data Not Collected. This website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics and Peeko, both without cookies (see This website).
This policy covers the Carligraphy app for iPhone and iPad and this website, carligraphy.com. Carligraphy is made by Mahdi Farra ("we", "us").
What stays on your device
The game saves a few things so you can pick up where you left off:
- Your progress: stars, best times, Garage items, your Daily Shape history and your streak.
- Your settings: difficulty, control scheme, music, sound and haptics levels and similar choices.
This lives in the app's storage on your device. We never see it. Deleting the app deletes it from that device.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, the game copies your progress to your own iCloud account so it shows up on your other iPhone or iPad. That copy is stored by Apple in your account, not by us, and we cannot read it. If iCloud is off, your progress simply stays on the device. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center, your Daily Shape times and total stars go to Game Center leaderboards and your achievements are recorded there. Game Center is Apple's service. Apple handles your Game Center profile, nickname, scores and friends under its own privacy policy, and you control who can see you in the Game Center settings on your device. We do not run a server and do not receive your Game Center details. If you are not signed in, nothing is sent and the game still works.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment. We never see your name, payment details or Apple Account. The app only asks Apple, on your device, whether the unlock has been purchased.
Photos and sharing
When you choose to save a share card or a replay video to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add to your library. The app cannot read your photos. When you share a drawing through the share sheet, you pick where it goes, and it is sent by the app you choose, not by us.
Crash reports
The app has no crash reporting or analytics code of its own. If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" in your device's Analytics and Improvements settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance reports with us through Apple's developer tools. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-ups.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking in the app, and no advertising identifier.
- No third-party SDKs or libraries in the app.
- No selling or sharing of personal data, because we don't have any.
Children
Carligraphy is rated 4+ and is fine for kids. Because the app collects no data, it collects no data from children either. There are no ads, and the one purchase goes through Apple, where parents can use Ask to Buy and Screen Time.
This website
carligraphy.com sets no cookies and has no ads or third-party embeds. Its fonts and images are served from this site.
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles every request to it, including your IP address, to serve and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits: Cloudflare adds a small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com that reports which pages are viewed, how fast they load, the site that sent you, and your country, browser and type of device. Cloudflare says Web Analytics uses no cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint visitors, and we only ever see totals, never individual visitors. Cloudflare also adds a small script that keeps the email addresses on these pages away from spam bots. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy.
We also count visits with Peeko, the analytics service Mahdi Farra makes. A small script from usepeeko.com reports the page you viewed (without anything after a "?"), the site that sent you and any campaign tags on the link, your screen and window size, whether your device is in dark mode, and clicks on links that leave this site, such as the App Store badge. Peeko works out your country, browser and type of device from the request. It uses your IP address and browser only to make a one-way hashed visitor code, so it can tell new visitors from returning ones without a cookie, and it never stores your IP address. Peeko sets no cookies and does not use your device's storage to recognize you.
Our own web server keeps no access logs.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date above. If the app ever starts collecting data, we will say so here and in the App Store privacy label before it ships.
